チクタク...自然の小さな時限爆弾

ここペンシルベニア州では暖かい日が戻り始め、クリスマスにもらった新しいブーツを履き、雪解けの森に小屋を探しに出かける季節がやってきた！しかし......注意しなければならない小さな生き物がいる！

背筋がゾッとするようなこの小さな生き物は、人間にも4本足のペットにも健康上のリスクをもたらすため、魅力と尊敬の両方を与える生き物である。マダニに噛まれることで最も悪名高いのは、ライム病の感染である。ライム病はマダニが媒介する病気としておそらく最もよく知られているが、気候変動はマダニの活動や生息数に影響を及ぼす可能性がある。ガールフレンドのミーガンと私はこの前の土曜日に小屋狩りに行き、このことを目の当たりにした。

暖かさ：マダニは暖かい季節に最も活発に活動する。60°F～90°F（21°C～32°C）の気温がマダニの活動に最適である。気温が低いとマダニの活動は低下するか休眠状態に入ることがあり、極端な暑さはマダニを乾燥させます。マダニが最も活発に活動するのは、気温が適度で湿度が比較的高い春と秋の季節である。
遊歩道、落ち葉、植生：マダニは、宿主となる可能性のある動物が通り過ぎるのを隠れながら待つことができる、草木や落ち葉が豊富な生息地を探す。

森を避けるというのは除外しよう！
