私の名前はゼルジン・アケツァリ。メキシコ出身でハイキング三冠を達成した唯一の人間だ。私のトレイルネームはケツァールですが、メキシカンやハイキングクイーンといったニックネームもあります。私を最も特徴づけていることの1つは、障害によってあきらめないことです。私の国メキシコは、私に生き残ることを教えてくれました。だからこそ私は、山を、人生を見る視点を変えてくれたライフスタイルとして捉えているのです。私の全人生で初めてのハイキングは、2017年のパシフィック・クレスト・トレイルでした。ハイカーや登山家としての経験はありませんでしたが、私は常にハイパフォーマンス・アスリートでした。その年のPCTは幸運にも雪が多く、私は雪を知らなかったし、英語を話す方法も知らなかった。それが5月にシエラネバダを横断するのに役立った。
