2026 Hiking Gear Trends, And Whether I Think They’re Actually Worth It
Things have gotten a little out of hand.
The outdoor world is swirling with all sorts of hiking trends right now, and every time I open Instagram I somehow discover a brand-new “essential” piece of outdoor gear that everyone suddenly swears changed their life.
Some of these trends are genuinely rooted in innovation. Hiking gear has improved massively over the years, especially in the ultralight world. Fabrics are getting warmer, lighter, and more comfortable. Gear is becoming more versatile. Companies are making products that actually solve problems people have had on trail forever.
