クロバエはバッファロー・ブヨやターキー・ブヨとも呼ばれ、日中、特に首や頭の周りを刺し、皮膚をかゆくしたり腫れ上がらせたりすることで知られている。クロバエのシーズンは4月から7月まで続く。
