ダニー・バーンスタインはハイカー、ハイキング・リーダー、アウトドア・ライター。20代前半から熱心なハイカーであり、アパラチアン・トレイル、グレート・スモーキー山脈国立公園内の全トレイル、6000峰を越える南部トレイル、ノースカロライナ横断Mountains-to-Sea Trail、そして3つのカミノス・デ・サンティアゴを完歩した。現在はCarolina Mountain Club、Friends of the Smokies、Asheville Caminoグループのハイキング・リーダーを務める。

著書に2冊の南部アパラチア山脈ハイキングガイドがある。また、『The Mountains-to-Sea Trail across North Carolina』と『DuPont Forest』を出版：A History』（ヒストリー・プレス）を出版。

彼女の前世は、コンピューターが流行るずっと前からコンピューター・サイエンスに携わり、最初はソフトウェア開発者として、その後コンピューター・サイエンスの教授として働いていた。彼女のモットーは、"時間があれば、歩くのに遠すぎる場所はない"。
